This year’s third concert in the Korundi series on November 21 draws inspiration from Finland’s nature. The program includes works dedicated to the Saimaa ringed seal, such as “Stories of the Lake” and “Autumn Images,” composed by Finnish composers. In the second half, experience a holistic audiovisual journey as the 50th-anniversary piece of the Lapland Military Band, “Lapland Imagery,” is performed live alongside a music video. The commissioned piece from 2019 was composed by Ilari Hylkilä, and the video was directed by Alexander Kuznetsov. The script for the video was created by the band’s own scripting team, produced by Antti Näpänkangas and Sanna Nordström, with the soloist shining as Ingá-Máret Gaup-Juuso. The concert concludes with the beloved “Landscapes of Finland” by the recently deceased Anssi Tikanmäki.

The evening’s visual fireworks will be complemented by stunning nature photographs projected on the big screen as the music plays. The photos are taken by award-winning nature photographer Markku Välitalo. You won’t get closer to an empowering nature experience in a concert hall, welcome!

On the concert day, there is free entry to the Rovaniemi Art Museum before the concert, featuring a nature-inspired exhibition by sculptor Teuvo Tuomivaara titled “A Cry from the Forest.” A meet-and-greet with Teuvo Tuomivaara will take place in the exhibition space from 17:30 to 18:30.

Before the concert, a small prelude by music institute students at 18:30 in Korundi Kitchen & Café.
