The Katedraali soi! -festival is Turku Cathedral’s own church music festival, offering concert experiences every day of the event week, from Monday to Sunday. The next Katedraali soi! will take place on February 2–8, 2026.
Mikko Heiniö’s music has been described as sensual, rhythmic, and approachable, with postmodern characteristics typical of his style. The freedom of his musical approach can lead to surprising compositional choices: a baritone soloist in a symphony or a choir in a piano concerto, or drawing musical influences from various sources, such as the time setting of an opera. Heiniö is Professor Emeritus of Musicology at the University of Turku and Honorary Composer of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra.
