This open and free outdoor event offers the perfect combination of top-tier music, a festival atmosphere, and interesting side activities for the whole family.

The day kicks off at Kasinopuisto park as early as 2:00 PM, where the public can explore the Finnish Defence Forces’ equipment and operations. Other authorities, such as the Border Guard and the Police, will also be present to showcase their work. The Soldiers’ Home (Sotilaskoti) canteen and other sales points will serve visitors throughout the event until the end of the concert – be sure to arrive early to enjoy those famous donuts!

• 18.00–18.50: The Dragoon Band
• 19.10–19.55: The Air Force Big Band with soloist Joonatan Rautio
• 20.15–21.30: The Finnish Defence Forces Conscript Band’s Showband

Music Program

The musical portion of the evening at the Harbour Square will be opened by the local Dragoon Band, and this time they are shifting into high gear! Under the command of Chief Conductor Major (Mus.) Tero Haikala, the band will roll out a set of TOTO’s timeless hits. The soloists for the evening are Viljami Holopainen and Ilari Kaipainen, both alumni of the Finnish Defence Forces Conscript Band. The pulse and energy will remain high from the first note to the last.

Next to the stage is the Air Force Big Band, conducted by Ville Paakkunainen. The summer tour repertoire dives into the hot rhythms of the Caribbean, focusing on the music of legendary jazz pianist Michel Camilo. Expect energetic Latin American beats, spiced up by soloist Joonatan Rautio, one of Finland’s most respected jazz saxophonists.

The electric climax of the evening will be delivered by the Finnish Defence Forces Conscript Band’s Showband, whose energetic performance and well-known hits will keep the crowd entertained late into the night.
