The concert takes the audience back to the 17th century, to the decisive moments of the Thirty Years’ War. The Battle of Breitenfeld was a turning point in the war, where the Finnish cavalry played a crucial role.

The programme features music depicting the world of the legendary cavalry: heroic passion and wistful tones. The concert is Rakuunasoittokunta’s tribute to the traditions of the cavalry and to the soldiers who rode their way into the shared history of the Nordic countries and Europe, all the way to our most recent wars. The concert host is retired Colonel Janne Mäkitalo, former Commander of the Army Academy.
