Modest Mussorgsky was one of the greatest Russian composers of the Romantic era. He composed the concert’s title song in memory of his friend Viktor Hartman. It leads the audience through Hartman’s art exhibition and presents a total of ten drawings and watercolours. The work was originally composed for piano, but has since been the subject of several orchestrations.

The concert will premiere Derek Bourgeois’ Concerto for Bass Trombone in Finland. The concert challenges its musicians both rhythmically and technically. The bass trombone, which is rarely heard as a solo instrument, is played by our own brass virtuoso, Sergeant Pekka Laurikka.

The concert will be held in collaboration with the Navy Band.

Welcome to enjoy symphonic wind music!
