MILjazz 2026: The Finnish Defence Forces’ MILjazz Tour Arrives in Turku for a Maritime Festival!

This open and free outdoor event offers high-quality music, interesting equipment displays, and a great atmosphere in the historical maritime setting along the Aura River.

The day kicks off at the Forum Marinum area at 2:00 PM, where the public can explore the equipment and operations of the Finnish Defence Forces. The Turku Soldiers’ Home canteen will also be present throughout the event, providing refreshments and classic donuts.

The evening’s music features professional military bands and an energetic conscript ensemble:

The evening opens stylishly with the Navy Band’s Big Band performing on its home turf.

Next to the stage is the Air Force Big Band, conducted by Ville Paakkunainen. The summer tour repertoire dives into the hot rhythms of the Caribbean, focusing on the music of legendary jazz pianist Michel Camilo. Expect energetic Latin American beats, spiced up by soloist Joonatan Rautio, one of Finland’s most respected jazz saxophonists.

The electric climax of the evening will be delivered by the Finnish Defence Forces Conscript Band’s Showband, bringing high energy and well-known hits to the stage.

• Venue: In front of Forum Marinum (Linnankatu 72, 20100 Turku)
• Public Transport: The area is easily accessible from Turku city center via bus number 1.
• Parking: Please note that Forum Marinum’s own parking lot is not available during the event. For those arriving by car, we recommend street-side parking, the Harppuunakortteli parking garage, or the Turku Harbor parking areas.
