MILjazz Raasepori is part of a larger celebration, beginning in the morning with ceremonial events, a parade review, and a pass-in-review. In addition to the music, the public has a unique opportunity to explore the activities of the Finnish Defence Forces and other authorities at the activity field in Stallören Park from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The program includes vessel displays, popular Jurmo boat rides, and a flight display by the Midnight Hawks aerobatic team in the afternoon.

As evening falls, Stallören Park will be filled with top-tier music as the MILjazz concert gathers the audience by the sea.

The evening will be opened with a maritime flair by the Navy Band’s Entertainment Orchestra, featuring the charismatic Konsta Hietanen as soloist. Sailing on the waves of rhythm music, the Navy’s representative orchestra has invited one of the most versatile stars of the Finnish entertainment world to join them for the first time this summer. Together, they will lead the audience on a “feel-good cruise” into the realm of 80s and 90s pop and rock classics—a time of shoulder pads, bold hairstyles, and plenty of studs. Familiar hits from Madonna to Billy Idol will be performed with fresh new arrangements.

Next, the stage will be taken by the Air Force Big Band accompanied by virtuoso saxophonist Joonatan Rautio. The ensemble will treat the audience to masterful interpretations of works by Michel Camilo.

The electric climax of the entire celebration will be delivered by the Finnish Defence Forces Conscript Band’s Showband, whose energetic performance and well-known hits will keep the audience entertained late into the evening.
