MILjazz 2025: Kokkola

The Finnish Defence Forces’ energetic MILjazz tour arrives this year on 6 August in Kokkola Market Square, bringing light to the end of the summer! The no-cost, feel-good outdoor event will offer its listeners upbeat music and an authentic festival atmosphere.

19:35 The Lapland Military Band’s Big Band

Before the music performances, the audience will have the opportunity to visit the Defence Forces exhibition area, with military vehicles and equipment on display. There will also be exhibition stands for the National Defence Training Association and Kokkola Reservists, where the public can learn about voluntary national defence and reservist activities.

The equipment exhibition and demonstration areas will be open from 14:00 to 17:00. The Kokkola Soldiers’ Home will also be in the area.

The concert part starts at 18:00, and continues until about 21:30. In Kokkola, the stage will first be taken over by the Air Force Big Band, which will entertain the audience with the brilliant Iina Salin as soloist. The evening will be crowned by the Lapland Military Band’s Big Band which will perform Earth, Wind & Fire classics under conductor Tapio Maunuvaara. The soloists will be Oulu rhythm music students, who will bring spark and energy to the performance.

Arrival: Kokkola train station and bus station are located in the city centre, about 10 min walk from the Kokkola market square. Those arriving by car can park in the centre of Kokkola, where both free and paid parking is available. Free parking is available around Urheilutalo and near Kokkola Town Hall, and additional no-cost parking spaces with a disc can be found at the Chydenia shopping centre, HalpaHalli, Kallentori and the former Anttila property. Paid parking is available at the railway station, in the library car park, along the streets and behind Matkahuolto.
