Toward the Horizon takes the listener on a journey through courage, adventure, and epic storytelling. The program features compelling contemporary wind band music, from the atmosphere of northern landscapes to the depths of the oceans. A highlight of the evening is Daniel Schnyder’s Concerto for Bass Trombone “Subzero”, performed by soloist Aksel Salmioranta in its Finnish premiere. The journey culminates in Francis McBeth’s epic Of Sailors and Whales, inviting the audience to set sail toward new horizons.
