MILjazz 2025: Rovaniemi

The Finnish Defence Forces’ energetic MILjazz tour arrives this year on 2 August in Rovaniemi’s Valdemarinranta and Koskipuisto, bringing light to the late summer nights! The no-cost, feel-good outdoor event will offer its listeners upbeat music and an authentic festival atmosphere.

Concert schedule:

18:00 The Air Force Big Band & Iina Salin
19:35 The Lapland Military Band’s Big Band

Before the music performances, the audience will have the opportunity to visit the Defence Forces exhibition area, where military vehicles, equipment and various combat tools will be on display. Information on voluntary national defence work and reservist activities will also be available at the exhibition stands. The event will also provide an opportunity to learn about the conscript service, women’s voluntary military service and the Defence Forces as an employer. The program will end with an overflight at 18:00.

The equipment exhibition and demonstration areas will be open from 15:00 to 17:30. The Soldiers’ Home will be serving throughout the event.

The concert part starts immediately after the overflight at 18:00, and continues until about 21:30. In all MILjazz cities, the Air Force Big Band will take to the stage to entertain the audience with the brilliant Iina Salin as soloist. In Rovaniemi, the evening will be crowned by the Lapland Military Band’s Big Band, which will perform Earth, Wind & Fire classics under conductor Tapio Maunuvaara. The soloists will be Oulu rhythm music students, who will bring spark and energy to the performance.

Arrival: Please note that visitors arriving by car must use the city parking areas outside the Koskipuisto area. The Koskipuisto and Valdemar car parks are reserved for the use of event organisers and invited guests.
